Who does Mike Krukow think he is?

NOTE: This blog originally appeared on October 3, 2006

Sorry for the rant, but…

Current San Francisco Giants color commentator Mike Krukow has some nerve.

He is a complete homer for the Giants and rarely has anything unbiased to say regarding the game he broadcasts.

I have one documented example out of many:

The Giants are playing the Dodgers on September 29, 2006, and Krukow comments on a pitch thrown by the Giants which was clearly inside and a ball.

Play-by-play announcer John Miller says that the San Francisco pitcher just missed the plate.

Says Krukow, however, “He didn’t miss it, he just didn’t get the call.”

Nice Mike.
Way to not let your emotions about a sucky Giants season get the best of you, again.

Later in the game, the Dodgers were awarded a called strike while pitching, which was not to Krukow's liking.

“They just got a gift… pitcher’s strike,” he said regarding Los Angeles and the plate umpire's call.

In the 9th inning, the Giants blew a 3-2 lead, the winning run scored by the Dodger's Russell Martin on a wild pitch from Mike Stanton.

Krukow, in his own disbelief, turns on his team.

“Unbelievable,” he says in a slightly condescending fashion. He would say it again a couple more times.

"Unbelievable."

Actually Mike, coming from you, I can believe it.
