Have we figured out what planet Tiger Woods is from yet?
Saying Woods is the world's best golfer today is as far from news as it gets, but sometimes I just can't get over how much this guy makes me actually care about watching golf. And about how much I care about sports in general.
Sure, I'm usually a fan of the underdog, but whenever Tiger plays I root for him to win. Sometimes to dominate, other times to edge past an opponent in a playoff. Why? I don't know, honestly. I guess there's just something about Tiger, something bigger than just a game. There's something in me that wants him to be greater and greater with each passing year.
When he golfs, I watch because I assume something great will happen. As CBS broadcaster Verne Lundquist asked, "In your life have you seen anything like that?" I doubt I'll see another Tiger Woods.
I love watching him play - even if he did go to Stanford.
